IntunePacker: Packaging Apps and Scripts for Microsoft Intune Without the Headache
If you have ever had to deploy software or scripts to Windows PCs using Microsoft Intune, you already know the ritual.
You download an installer executable, open up the Intune admin center, and immediately hit a wall of manual form fields. You find yourself typing out the exact product version, searching Google Images for a crisp application icon, and digging through documentation for silent install switches. If you are dealing with a custom PowerShell script or batch file, you end up launching local command-line tools just to wrap the file before uploading.
Doing that once is fine. Doing it for dozens of applications and scripts every month gets tedious fast.
To kill this repetitive chore, I built IntunePacker.
What is IntunePacker?
IntunePacker is a web tool designed with one simple goal: drop your installer or script into the browser, and get back a ready-to-deploy package for Microsoft Intune in seconds.
You bring the file, and IntunePacker takes care of the annoying parts:
- Supports your actual workflow: Drop in
.exeinstallers,.msipackages, PowerShell scripts (.ps1), batch files (.bat), or VBScripts (.vbs). - Auto-detects application details: It reads your binary on the fly to figure out the app name, publisher, and version number so you do not have to type them manually.
- Pulls the real icon: Instead of making you search for a PNG, it extracts the actual application icon embedded inside the Windows executable.
- Generates Intune-ready packages: You get back an LOB
.msior Win32.intunewinpackage ready for instant upload.
The “Auto-Fill” Magic of LOB MSI Packages
The absolute best part of deploying Line-of-Business (.msi) apps in Intune is how smart Intune behaves when you upload them.
When you select the .msi format in IntunePacker, it wraps your installer or script into a standard Windows Installer containing all metadata and extracted icons. When you upload that generated .msi into the Intune console, Intune instantly reads the package and automatically populates:
- Application Name and Publisher
- Full Description and Version
- High-resolution App Icon
- Install and Uninstall Commands
No copy-pasting, no manual icon uploads, and no guessing command-line arguments.
Built for Speed and Privacy
I wanted the tool to feel snappy and secure:
- Hashed in your browser: Files are verified locally using SHA-256 before upload.
- No registration required: Just visit, drop your file, and download your package.
- Automatic cleanup: Staging files and built packages are automatically deleted after download.
- Zero clutter: A clean, minimal dark interface without unnecessary noise.
Try It Out
If you manage Intune environments or frequently package Windows apps and scripts, give IntunePacker a spin:
